Isle of Wight Festival


UPDATED 13:00 – To the surprise of many, traffic is flowing smoothly across the Island this morning as thousands leave the Isle of Wight Festival 2012 at Seaclose Park, Newport.

13:30 – Southern Vectis Route 5 and 9 services are running as per timetable

13:00 – Traffic restrictions on Fairlee Road are due to be lifted within the hour.

12:00 – 4×4 Response vehicles from the mainland are due to head home after assisting stranded vehicles in the Festival car park.

11:10 – Wightlink are advising that foot passengers are currently waiting 20 minutes at Ryde Pier Head while on the vehicle ferry, cars that are not booked on to a specific crossing are currently waiting 30 minutes at Fishbourne and around 60 minutes at the Yarmouth port.

10:30 – Hovertravel’s services are all running smoothly this morning and staff are spraying down festival-goers prior to boarding

10:10 – Train services on Island Line are back to normal.

09:50 – Only 500 cars remain in the car park at Whippingham. Most cars have already been towed out. Traffic remains smooth, no delays.

09:25 – No traffic in Wootton as our photograph shows

08:55 – Roads continue to flow with some small delays at the Racecourse Roundabout

08:30 – Three vehicles involved in a small collision at Smallbrook Roundabout. Photographs to follow later

SOUTHERN VECTIS – Route 1 between Newport and Cowes is currently terminating at the Co-Operative

ISLAND LINE – services between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin have resumed following signalling problems this morning. Delays are expected up to 20 minutes.

RYDE PIER HEAD – The pier has been closed to traffic to allow safe access to the Fast Cat for pedestrians.
