2 ticket machines have been damaged by mindless vandalism at Park Road Car Park in Cowes, causing stress and disruption to motorists.
The car park, which belongs to Northwood House Charitable Trust, provides a vital income stream for the charity to help with looking after Northwood House and surrounding parkland on behalf of the community.
The vandalism, which made the machines inoperable for a number of hours, occurred during the hours of darkness.
Motorists arrived the next morning unable to pay to park – with many of those in a rush to catch the Red Jet to the mainland.
The charity is appealing for anyone with information to get in touch with the Police on 101, or by calling the charity’s head office on 01983 293642.
I dont know if they are cash taking machines or not, but the answer is to move to cashless machinery using tap and pay in addition to paying using a phone.
I wonder if they were the ones the council put in stating that they were vandal proof.
Obvisiouly they are not.
Perhaps not just, for once, mindless vandals, but someone who has a grudge, perhaps fined for not having a ticket or time running out after buying?
Mind Cowes is full of charity paid for vermin, either way never will be caught and if by a miracle they were, nothing would happen to them, so best move on and just get all of us to pay a lttle more on our c.tax to cover such, as they will be getting theirs paid for so matters not to them.
I suspect that this was done by someone why has a gripe with the car park. Maybe check recent people who got a parking ticket for over staying their time.
There should be some mechanism for motorists who inadvertently overrun their time, to pay for that extra time. This might involve a small administration fee, but should not be a punishment.
