Red Funnel has cancelled at least 4 vehicle ferry sailings to and from the Isle of Wight this morning (Wednesday) due to essential maintenance.
The cross-Solent operator has announced that the 07:30 and 10:30 sailings from Southampton have been cancelled, alongside the 09:00 and 12:00 sailings from East Cowes.
This is due to essential maintenance required to an item of onboard critical equipment.
It is unclear at this stage if further cancellations can be expected throughout the day.
Last night, the 21:00 sailing from Southampton and the 22:30 from East Cowes were both cancelled for the same reason.
Wightlink also had their own troubles last night, cancelling the last 4 sailings of the night on its Fastcat passenger service.
UPDATE @ 11:59 – Red Funnel has now cancelled the 13:30, 16:30 and 19:30 sailings from Southampton, as well as the 15:00, 18:00 and 21:00 sailings from East Cowes.
UPDATE ON THURSDAY MORNING – Services are running to timetable once again.

‘Maintenance’ is something you can schedule so why not do it at night? Sounds like a breakdown as it is.
Disgusting again people had funerals to go to, this is not a service any more it’s a joke, on Monday shitelink ferries were delayed by 50 minutes but I bet the b…..ds won’t give us a refund to say how sorry they are, appalling service & no back up it’s just beyond a joke now.
Obviously the caulk needs replacing.
Essential maintenance ??? The ferries are too old & unreliable due to lack of maintenance & making sure shareholders are paid like Southern Water irrespective of the rip off prices & service to it’s customers !!!!!
Well of course they do ..this shitshow just keeps on giving..well done again deadfunnel.
