airambulancebradingEXCLUSIVE: The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance landed in Brading this afternoon to carry out a patient medivac.

The bright-yellow charity helicopter landed at Brading Play Park shortly after 17:00 to assess and transfer a patient from Beech Grove Surgery in the town before taking off 45 minutes later.

The male patient, believed to be in his 20’s, was able to walk to the air ambulance following assistance from paramedics of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.

Families gathered around to watch the helicopter take off, in what is an unusual sight for the small historic town.

UPDATED 09:30 FRIDAY: Island Echo understand the man in his 20’s was suffering from the symptoms of a heart attack, which had started earlier that day. He was airlifted to a nearby mainland hospital were his conditions is comfortable.
