Star Wars characters, lightsabers and Jedi mascots delighted passengers as Red Funnel brought intergalactic fun to its Southampton terminal and Red Jet service.
The Isle of Wight ferry operator marked Star Wars Day early on Saturday (2nd May), transforming its Southampton terminal and sailings into a galaxy not so far away.
Passengers travelling on the 09:35 Red Jet service to West Cowes were among the first to witness the themed takeover, complete with costumed characters and interactive entertainment.
Red Funnel’s much-loved mascot Ted Funnel took on a new role for the day, dressed as a Jedi and joined by fellow staff in full robes.
The Mandalorian and Grogu also made special appearances, offering photo opportunities and delighting fans of all ages throughout the day.
Visitors were treated to lightsaber action and plenty of themed fun in the terminal, with characters on hand to greet guests into the afternoon.
Fran Collins, CEO of Red Funnel, said:
“While the Millennium Falcon might have the edge on speed, we think our Red Jet and Red Falcon are hard to beat for a trip to the Isle of Wight.
“We love creating moments that bring people together, and this is a great chance to do just that; bringing a bit of Star Wars fun to our terminals for our customers and the local community.”

Well done Red Funnel who doesn’t love Grogu
the grandchildren love Grogu.
If they could just offer an affordable service, that would be great! We don’t need all this 5h17 !
True, but still better value than Wightlink
Will it stop the ferry’s from breaking down?bring such an expensive rubbish service ?If the force be with you it would remove this bunch of owners and put in some who actually can sort out these ageing vessels ,board and ferrys!!.
