Various Isle of Wight properties recently went under the hammer at the latest Clive Emson Auctioneers property and land auction.
Sold prior to the 1st May auction was Moonshine, a 4-bedroom detached house at 70A Leeson Road, Bonchurch, Ventnor, which had a freehold guide price of £195,000+ to reflect being affected by a landslip in December 2023.

“There was keen interest in Moonshine, given its uniqueness and panoramic views of the English Channel.
“An offer was made to the vendor, which was accepted. The new owner has requested privacy and we are not privy to any plans they may or may not have for the property.”
Moonshine was architecturally designed and originally built in the mid-1990s and known locally for its distinctive copper curved roof.
On a 950-year lease from 1923, a semi-detached house with 2 bedrooms at 56 Albert Street, Ventnor, fetched £138,000.
Let on a commercial lease for £28,000 per annum, the freehold of God’s Providence House at 12 St Thomas’ Square, Newport, went for £195,000.

“Occupying a prominent position overlooking St Thomas Square in the centre of Newport, God’s Providence House is one of the Isle of Wight’s oldest and best-known food establishments.
“The property is arranged over three floors which includes a residential flat on the top floor, although this space is currently utilised as storage by the commercial tenant.”
Described as in need of upgrading and refurbishment, a 3-bedroom detached chalet-style house at 1 Alresford Road, Shanklin, was purchased for £125,000.
On the remainder of a 215-year lease from 1975, a 2-bedroom flat with a garden and garage at 10B Witbank Gardens, Shanklin, was acquired for £125,000 in a bidding war.
Described as needing improvement, a three-bedroom semi-detached house at 10 Denness Road, Lake, between Sandown and Shanklin, sold for £140,000.
With 2 bedrooms, a freehold terraced house at 34 New Street, Newport, said to need refurbishment, fetched £90,000.
The freehold auction of the former Roseglen Hotel at 12 Palmerston Road, Shanklin, which has been partially converted to a house in multiple occupation, was postponed.

Also re-available is a former shop with owner’s 2-bedroom accommodation above and behind was guided freehold at £125,000+. The freehold property, at 49 Monkton Street, Ryde, is close to Ryde St Johns Road railway station.
Let at £33,300 per annum, a freehold block of 4 flats for investment at 23 Star Street, Ryde, had a guide price of £295,000+. Each flat has 1 bedroom.
With sea views, a 4-bedroom detached house at 115 Gills Cliff Road, Ventnor, had a freehold guide price of £245,000+.
Also listed was a 1-bedroom flat at 37 Atherley Park Close, Shanklin, which had a guide price of £70,000+. Let at £6,600 per annum, with an allocated car parking space, the property is on the remainder of a 125-year lease from 2013.
A freehold commercial property studio, with bed/living room, shower room and kitchen, which has current planning usage as an office, was guided at £35,000+. The single-storey building is at Little Star, New Village, Freshwater.
