Matt Webb managed the rare feat of taking a hat-trick for Ryde 2nds in their Division 4 (South) game at Southampton Travellers on Saturday (25th June).
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Ryde reached the modest total of 150/9 in their 45 overs with Matt Oatley top scoring with a knock of just 25 runs.
In Southampton Travellers innings, Webb removed both opening batsmen – Imad Nabi and Ramnik Behar – caught by Daniel Attrill and Lucas Harrison. He also had Chris Vallis caught by Ashley Goldsmith to complete his hat trick.
Southampton Travellers eventually reached a total of 127 runs all out off 32 overs, with Webb the pick of the Ryde bowlers with figures of 4/29.

Ryde 2nds victory leaves them in 13th place in Division 4 (South) with 111 points from 8 games.

Ryde 178 all out Longparish 179/9 Longparish won by 1 wicket
Ryde were narrowly beaten at Harding Shute by a single wicket in Hampshire Division 1.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Ryde reached 178 before being all out in the 5th ball of the final over. Ben Gregory top scored for Ryde with a knock of 30 before being clean bowled by Harry Martin. Frank Gumley was the 2nd highest scorer with 26 runs before he was dismissed by Alex Coetzee.
Longparish reached their target in 46 overs with just 1 wicket remaining. Callum Giles top scored for the away side with a knock of 73 before being clean bowled by Julion Jayerajah.
Ryde’s defeat leaves them 2nd-from-bottom In Hampshire Division 1 with 77 points from 8 games.

Ellingham 204/6 Shanklin & Godshill 199/8 Ellingham won by 4 wickets
Shanklin travelled to Ellingham and on losing the toss were asked to bat first on what looked like a very bowler friendly wicket. After losing early wickets, Steve Egerton-Read anchored the innings with 40 from 105 balls, and a good contribution from Ben White – 46 from 44 balls – saw Shanklin close their innings on 199 for 8 from 45 overs. Mark Burrett was the pick of Ellingham’s bowlers, taking 3 for 48 from 8 overs.
Ellingham set about their reply and were given an excellent start by their opening batters with Mark Burrett scoring 62 and Jonny Childs 65. Once they were dismissed, Shanklin took a further 4 wickets but were never able to really turn the game around with Ellingham reaching their victory target in the 44th over for the loss of 6 wickets.
Shanklin’s defeat leaves them in 7th place in Division 3 (South) with 124 points from 8 games.
Solent Rangers 265 all out Ventnor 298/6 Ventnor won by 33 runs
In Division 4, Ventnor 2nds beat Solent Rangers by 33 runs in a high scoring game.
Ventnor won the toss and batted 1st, scoring 298 runs in 45 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. Opener Sam Guerin top scored for Ventnor with 139 runs before being caught by Lithin Jose off the bowling of Binish Varghese.
Solent Rangers reached a total of 265 all out in 44 overs and 4 balls. Captain Deepu Nair top scored for the home side with a knock of 70 before being clean bowled by Mark Fletcher. Zeph Wells was the pick of the Ventnor bowlers with figures of 3/21, followed by Fletcher with 3/36.
Ventnor’s win leaves them in 3rd place in Division 3 (South) with 147 points from 8 games.
