Emergency works by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks at Northwood are causing significant tailbacks for motorists heading into Cowes this lunchtime (Thursday). It’s understood that multi-way temporary traffic lights have been erected near the junction with Oxford Street on Newport Road – the main Newport to Cowes road. Traffic is currently queued all the way from Northwood Garage to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport. For those heading out of Cowes, traffic is backed up to Somerton Roundabout. Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the time being whilst the emergency repair works are undertaken.
