A man who has changed his name by deed poll, less than 5 years after being sent to prison for a sick revenge plot against his then-wife, has appeared in court again – this time for breaching a non-molestation order against another former partner.
50-year-old Adrian Wilks of Melbourne Street, Newport – now known as Ed Warrior – appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court yesterday (Friday) charged with breaching a non-molestation order imposed by Portsmouth Family Court in December 2022. He pleaded guilty to the single charge.
Liz Miller, prosecuting, said that a non-molestation order had been imposed against Warrior last year following the break up of his 5-year relationship. However, on 24th January this year, he breached it by asking his former partner’s daughter to pass on a message, which was said to be ‘intimidating’. It was in relation to getting back some accounting paperwork.
In a victim impact statement read out in court, it was said that Warrior’s ex-lover is now too scared to go out alone and is terrified that Warrior will turn up at her address.
Ms Miller briefly mentioned a previous conviction from 2018 which resulted in a 9-month prison sentence. Island Echo can detail that Warrior – then known as Wilks – was jailed in 2018 for setting up a fake Facebook profile to encourage other men to rape his wife, as previously reported by The Mirror.
Defending, Barry Arnett said that although Warrior had pleaded guilty to this latest offence, he didn’t accept that he made threats.
Mr Arnett said that Warrior runs a local business and needed the accounting books in order to secure funding to expand his business – which specialises in man and van services. Warrior went to his former stepdaughter’s house to collect some DVDs and said “tell your mum I’ll see her in court”. There was no direct contact.
Magistrates handed Warrior a £346 fine and ordered him to pay £85 costs with a £138 surcharge.
