UPDATED: Police have arrested a man after tasering him ‘3 times’ in the middle of Tesco’s Express store in Wootton this afternoon (Thursday).
According to witnesses, officers rushed into the High Street shop at around 15:30 before drawing their Taser. The weapon delivers a shock to the person on the receiving end of the electric barbs.
Shockingly, it is said the ‘very drunk’ man had a young child with him at the time of the arrest.
4 Police units are in attendance at scene, but it remains unclear as to why the male has been arrested with such force.
UPDATE @ 19:50 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that a 4o-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman have both been arrested and have been taken into custody at Newport Police Station for questioning.
According to Police, officers were deployed to the scene in Wootton after members of the public raised concerns about the welfare of the child accompanying the couple, who come from Wroxall.
UPDATE FRIDAY – Both the man and woman have been released from Police custody, but remain under investigation.
Hampshire Constabulary have said that the taser was discharged yesterday safely detain the man.
