A 47-year-old man was arrested by Police following reports of an assault in Binstead late yesterday afternoon (Friday).
It was just before 18:00 that officers – including those patrolling on pushbikes – responded to Broadway Crescent, near the junction with Jellicoe Road.
At the scene, a 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault.
It appears he had been sent packing – quite literally – with a suitcase in hand.
He has spent the night in the cells and remains in custody this morning.
On Thursday night, officers responded to a domestic incident on Melbourne Street in Newport.
It was at around 20:50 that officers descended on the residential street and arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of common assault.
