A Cowes man caught masturbating in his car in full public view has been handed a 9-month community order.
James Gilbert, 25, of Mill Hill Road, was sentenced for committing an act of outraging public decency when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Friday (8th August).
On 25th November last year, Gilbert was caught masturbating in his car on Wellington Road in Carisbrooke – a road home to no less than 3 schools and dozens of family homes – in daylight hours.
Magistrates handed Gilbert a 9-month community order with 8 rehabilitation days attached. He was also ordered to pay a fine of £120, a £114 surcharge and £85 costs.

This is a small Island so hopefully the magistrates will be reading these comments. If you are, just know that you have failed your community in this instance. This guy clearly is unable to control his sexual urges. That he can do this next to a school is all you really need to know. I will guarantee you his next move will be to go further and reach out to a child or somebody and abuse them. Think on this when you drink your cocoa tonight, you are a disgrace and should not be sitting in a court room.
