UPDATED: Emergency services are this morning attending to a man who has fallen from the roof of a large house in Brading.
It is understood the gentleman has landed on a garage after falling from the roof of a first floor extension of Ovington House in The Mall shortly before 10:20 this morning. It was initially understood that he has fallen from the top of the building.
One fire appliance from Ryde, an Aerial Ladder Platform from Ryde and the Rescue Tender from Newport are all in attendance, alongside Police and a rapid response paramedic.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is also attending the incident and has landed in a nearby public field.
The Mall has been closed in both directions.
Island Echo understand the unknown man has suffered a back injury in the fall.
UPDATE: The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance left the scene shortly after midday.
UPDATE @ 16:15 – It has been confirmed this afternoon that the casualty is being treated for a suspected lower spinal fracture and will remain at St Mary’s Hospital, Newport until at least tomorrow.
