A large search and rescue operation has been launched tonight (Saturday) amid concerns a person is in distress in the sea off Ryde.
Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor have been joined on scene by Coastguard Rescue 375 helicopter from Lee-on-Solent, Ryde Inshore Rescue, Police and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
Coastguard Rescue Officers and Police are scouring the seafront, whilst the helicopter conducts an aerial search of the Solent overhead.
On the water, Ryde Rescue 1 is searching in and around the pier structure.
The incident began at around 20:15 and remains ongoing at this time.
UPDATE @ 21:32 – A woman has been hauled onboard Ryde Rescue 1 lifeboat and is in the process of being transferred ashore, and into the care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
Emergency crews are beginning to stand down from the incident – including the Coastguard Helicopter which has returned to base.

WTF in this weather?
Hope the person is ok, feel sorry for the rescue guys having to go out in this weather.
My thoughts exactly, it puts other persons lives at
risk.
Is this the same woman who has done the same thing repeatedly over the last 2 years?
