caronsidetescorydeA woman in her 80s has had a lucky escape after her small hatchback car came to rest on its side in Ryde this afternoon (Wednesday).

Emergency crews were called to the scene on Brading Road at around 13:30 following reports of the 14-reg red Kia Picanto having crashed, ending up on its side on the wrong side of the road.

One fire appliance from Ryde Fire Station turned out to the incident, alongside Police and paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.

caronsidetescoryde2Amazingly, the woman has walked away from the incident uninjured after being assisted from the vehicle by firefighters.

The car has now been recovered and traffic is flowing in the area once again. Motorists were delayed for a short period whilst Bartletts Service Station safely righted and recovered the vehicle.

The cause of the road traffic incident is unknown.
