A driver has had a lucky escape today (Thursday) after their vehicle collided with railings in Totland before coming to rest hanging over the sea wall.
Emergency services, including one appliance from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, were called to the scene near to The Waterside Bar at around 08:30 this morning, where it was discovered that the 4×4 – a Toyota Rav 4 – was hanging dangerously over the edge of the promenade.
Thankfully, the unnamed female driver escaped injury and did not need to be conveyed to hospital, however was treated for shock at the scene by paramedics.
Local recovery firm Stag Lane Motors were tasked with safely recovering the vehicle from the precarious position.
