L-R: Tsvetelin Tonche, Stuart Robertson and Jack Robertson

Isle of Wight football coach Stuart Robertson and his son Jack, who plays for Cowes Youth FC Under 15’s, recently arranged to meet up with a Bulgarian football club to exchange shirts.

Stuart took the opportunity to meet the captain of Chomakovtsi FC whilst visiting family in the country. They spoke about the differences between the 2 clubs before exchanging kits and of course posing for photos.

Chomakovtsi is located in North Western Bulgaria. The town has both a men’s and a youth football team and both will be keeping in touch with Cowes Youth FC.

Stuart says:

“I had thought about the idea of passing on one of our full kits to a kids football club from another country for a while and we regularly visit my mother-in-law who has lived in Bulgaria for about 10 years, so it made it a bit easier to make ties with a club in her local village.

“I arranged to meet with their first team captain, Tsvetelin Tonchev, and one of their coaches. We then exchanged shirts and this will be hung in our clubhouse along with many others we have there.

“The Chomakovtsi officials were very appreciative and are a great little club, their ground is occasionally used for training by the Bulgarian national team”.
