UPDATED: A lorry and car have collided on The Downs this evening (Tuesday) near to Newport Shute.
Emergency services are currently attending the incident, which occurred at around 17:40 and has involved a Reynolds and Read lorry.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are on scene.
Island Echo understands that extensive damage has been sustained to both the lorry and car, that appear to have collided whilst travelling in opposite directions in an almost identical incident to a road traffic collision a few hundred metres away last week.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
UPDATE @ 19:15 – No one is believed to have been seriously injured in the collision.
Recovery of the vehicles has been arranged.
