Long Island in Newport has announced that it will close at the end of this month – but has revealed that a brand new restaurant and cocktail bar will replace it.
Announcing the closure on social media, Long Island has said:
“August will be our last month trading as Long Island and our sister company Texmexico will also be closing, we’re announcing this to give all our customers the chance to use any vouchers they may have and a chance to visit us 1 last time!”
“We would like to thank all our customers who have supported us over the years.”
They will also be doing 1 last ‘Tipsy Tapas’ on the afternoon of 26th August, as well as a party night on the evening before they close as Long Island for good.
Thankfully, the building is not expected to remain vacant for long as there will be a brand new restaurant and cocktail bar opening there instead. Further details are yet to be announced but they will be in the coming weeks.

Sign of the times, what happens in a recession. Maybe the Tories will finally admit we’re in a recession.
The definition of a recession is at least two consecutive quarters of economic contraction – or “negative growth” – in gross domestic product.
This bar is closing and reopening with a new brand. Times change.
Moronic comment
Just like Europe then.
It’s what you call incorrect reporting, it’s actually been bought out by the chef that was there and he is revamping it and renaming it. We ate there Saturday and it was good service and good food and nicely presented. Good luck to his new business.
To be fair last time i went there only few months back… the service was pants, waiting for drinks then for food and getting the orders wrong.. was not good
Where the heck is this? Never heard of it….. probably why it’s closing
Not being funny, but I have never heard of the place, where is it!?
