A talented team of young Islanders are bringing a brand new production of Pinocchio to Ventnor Fringe this weekend. Follow Pinocchio’s adventures in his pursuit to become who he really wants to be. But forget Walt Disney’s cartoon version – this adaptation sticks much closer to the original Carlo Collodi story with its darker side as well as some comedy moments. With an original script and songs for Ventnor Fringe, and choreographed dance by Ann Abe from Dance Vibez, it’s fully immersive theatre and sure to be a feast for all, not just families and children. Certainly not to be missed. Pink Cow Productions are building a firm reputation for popular and innovative performances across the Isle of Wight. You may have seen one of their many successful productions at the Apollo Theatre in Newport (Rudy, Cowterspace and Peter Pan Forever) or more recently at the Isle of Wight Story Festival (Going South for Winter). Pinocchio features children from across the Island who attend their numerous Pink Cow acting classes including Apollo Youth Theatre, Trap Door and Hubbub. Artistic director, Mish Whitmore, says:
“The children have been working really hard the last few months to create this fun and engaging adaptation of the popular story of Pinocchio. I’m so proud of how they’ve got to grips with the theatre style Influenced by Jerzy Grotowski centring on actors using their physical body and voice. Don’t be a donkey, buy your tickets today!”
Performances are this Saturday and Sunday, 16:30 18:30 in the Magpie tent in Ventnor Park. For more information you can go to https://pinkcowtheatre.com/plays/pinocchio
