FOUND: LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHER’S PUSHBIKE STOLEN IN RYDE AFTER PIPE CUT

Published:

A well-known local photographer is appealing for information after her pushbike was stolen from outside her property in Ryde overnight.

Sienna Anderson, who regularly contributes photos to Island Echo, believes that the incident was pre-planned as a pipe was cut through to gain access to the Trek ladies bike. Furthermore, a side gate was kicked in a few weeks ago with evidence that the bike had been moved.

The green and black bike is the latest bicycle to be stolen in Ryde. It’s known that around Christmas time a bike was stolen from Ryde Pier Head too. Unfortunately, Police are unwilling to investigate either offence any further and therefore vital CCTV cannot be accessed.

This latest incident happened on Union Street.

Local businesses are being asked to check their CCTV to see if the crime, or suspect, were captured on camera.

Sienna has said:

“Thank s to the power of Social Media, friends, family and the lovely people that live on this Island my bike had been found…

“It was taken to a disused building in Ryde where people have been breaking in and using it as a doss house, only thing is it’s currently manned at night now and they were chased off – leaving my bike behind…

“Thank you, everyone, for all your help and support – amazing”

Another slow news day then. I would wager a bet that dozens of bikes have been stolen in the last month, why report this specific one????

Police are not willing to investigate. Do not sit on the sea front or you will be lifted.

Glad it’s been found, not so good that it was “ruined” as it says in the article! lol.

“….. her stolen bike has now been found, and ruined with her.”
Someone is putting too much reliance on their spell checker I think.
“reunited” was perhaps what was intended?

The bike was found in Ryde Theatre, which had been broken into and badly vandalised inside. The owner of the theatre found the thieves on the premises. The perpetrators escaped but left the bike behind. The theatre has now been secured. Thanks to the article in the Island Echo the owner was traced quickly.

Thank goodness I can keep my bike in my hallway, and only use shops that will take my bike as well as me.

Glad she got her bike back. But the real story is the attitude of the police. Was it not a criminal offence? Are they not duty bound to register it? I would lodge a compliment.

Open season our our bikes then.
