Local accounting business Simplex has been announced as a finalist in the 2023 Business Champion Awards.
Back in 2020, Lucy Johnson was made redundant from her full-time job working in finance as a result of the pandemic. Within 8 months, Lucy took on her first team member and, after just 15 months, Lucy has a client base of 50.
The Business Champion Awards were set up in 2022 after organisers realised that the industry awards recognised innovative business, yet isn’t innovative itself, so decided to disrupt the business awards industry.
Lucy, Director at Simplex Accounting, says:
“I started the business just under 2 years ago now, and I can honestly say I have never worked with such great people and met such talented business owners. Winning the Xero award less than a year ago was such a surprise and it’s an honour to find myself in a room with yet again more fantastic entrepreneurs.”
Th competition was fierce with over 800 entries and Lucy has made it down to the top 10 in the New Business of the Year category.
Lucy will be attending the grand finale, a gala black-tie awards dinner hosted by Huw Edwards, later this month. The event is being held at The East Wintergarden, Canary Wharf, London.
