Cowes artist and designer, Brian Marriott, will be holding a solo Cowes Week Exhibition at the Island Sailing Club. Exclusively working with recycled waste glass fragments from the internationally famous Isle of Wight Studio Glass, combined with his newly formed glass, Brian creates impasto-like textured pictures. Brian’s features Cowes Week, Americas Cup and Island landscapes, in a collection of abstract glass images and prints. Brian said:
“I apply my skills to create abstract images from 1000’s of fragments of glass to create beautifully vibrant and uplifting images that take full advantage of the qualities within the glass, which, when re-fired in the kiln, fuse into a stunning transformation.”
One of many visitors’ comments during last summer’s Open Studios summed up his work.
“So original, stunning and vibrant, it’s fantastic work, I’ve never seen anything like it before”.
The Island Sailing Club exhibition runs from Saturday 27th July to Friday 2nd August, 11:00 to 17:00 each day in the Beken Room. Visitors to the Club are very welcome to enjoy the bar and dining room.
