Ryde Inshore Rescue were launched to reports of a possible body in the water near to Ryde Pier yesterday evening (Friday), the first of 2 shouts for the independent lifeboat.
Ryde Rescue 1 lifeboat was launched at around 19:15 when reports came in from Solent Coastguard of what was possibly a body in the water to the west of Ryde Pier.
The lifeboat and her volunteer crew were quickly on scene and after liaising with the Police, started a search of the surrounding area.
After searching for approximately 30 minutes the search was cut short with another immediate tasking from Solent Coastguard, this time to reports of a female in distress in the water off Hillhead on the other side of the Solent.
With a life possibly in danger Ryde Rescue 1 made best speed and was on scene within just 8 mins, arriving at same time as the mainland-based Ambulance and Hillhead Coastguard Rescue Team.
Thankfully, the lady had made it safely ashore and taken to the ambulance to be checked over by paramedics.
After being released from the incident Ryde Rescue 1 returned to Appley where she was made ready for service.
