Leslie Ismail has won the Thomas Cup for 2022, for ladies who have won either a Stableford or Par competition during the golfing year.
This year was a very close fought battle, with the top 3 all finishing on 34 points, and the result decided on countback.
Once the scores had been checked, Lesley Ismail emerged the victor, Hazel Smith took 2nd place and Catherine Bachelor came 3rd.
SHAWN FORD AND FRAN COLE WIN CHEVERTON TROPHY
On Sunday 20th March, members of Shanklin & Sandown Golf Club took to the course in the first mixed event of the year.
The Cheverton Trophy, a mixed foursomes stableford, was a very closely fought contest – perhaps thanks to the use of a golf practice mat.
Past Captain Shawn Ford and Fran Cole emerged victorious, taking the trophy with 40 points. The runners-up were Nigel and Brenda Keyte with 39 points and, taking 3rd place, were Bob and Jane Wilson with 38 points.
