This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

• Antony Kwaramba, 44, of West Hill Road, Ryde – drove while disqualified and without insurance on Vicarage Lane, Brading, and again on West Hill Road, Ryde, while subject to a long disqualification. He was sentenced to 8 weeks in custody, suspended for 18 months, with 120 hours of unpaid work and 20 rehabilitation days. He was disqualified from driving for 42 months, and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £154 surcharge.
• Peter Timmins, 35, of HMP Albany – possessed a mobile phone inside HMP Isle of Wight without authority. He was sentenced to 26 weeks’ immediate custody.
• Maddy Allen-Willsher, 22, of HMP Lewes – breached a criminal behaviour order on three occasions in Newport by associating with a prohibited person and by failing to place items in a basket while shoplifting. She also stole alcohol, food and drink worth £53 from Tesco Express. Sentenced for all offences together, she received 17 weeks’ imprisonment and was ordered to pay £53 in compensation.
• Michael Hayles, 58, of Wicks Close, Ryde – breached a restraining order on four separate occasions by entering Chandler Close, Newport, where he was prohibited. He was sentenced to a community order with 20 rehabilitation days and 40 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay £85 in costs.
• Zak Griffiths, 33, of Island Harbour Marina, Newport – drove a Mini while over the alcohol limit on Brading Road, Ryde. He was fined £120, ordered to pay £85 costs, and disqualified for 12 months, reduced by 3 months upon completion of a course.
• Luke Edgington, 37, of West Street, Newport – committed five shop thefts in Newport, stealing items including jewellery, electronics and collectibles, with a combined value of over £1,100. He was sentenced to a single community order with 30 rehabilitation days and ordered to pay compensation totalling £1,113.98.
• Shaun Daly, 40, of Regent Street, Shanklin – assaulted a woman in Sandown and separately failed to surrender to bail. He was found guilty of the assault in his absence and sentenced to a community order with 20 rehabilitation days, fined £100 and ordered to pay £200 in costs. No separate penalty was imposed for the bail offence.
• Joann Poll, 46, of Newport, Sandown – stole items worth £73.81 in two separate thefts from Waitrose in East Cowes and Tesco Express in Newport. She was fined £40 and ordered to pay compensation totalling £73.81.
• Beth Lockhart, 31, of Old Park Road, St Lawrence – damaged a police van in Newport. She received a 6-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £50 compensation and £200 in costs.
