This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

.Monday 3rd March – Friday 7th March 2024
• Jordan Jude, 28, of Parkways in Sandown was fined £200 and ordered to pay £60 costs for failing to comply with the requirements of a community order.
• Andrew Downard, 30, of Union Street, Ryde pleaded guilty to criminal damage and 2x theft from a shop. He was ordered to pay £524.40 compensation.
• Louise Robinson, 47, of Atherley Road, Shanklin pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled drug of Class A – Heroin and possession of a controlled drug of Class B – cannabis. She was fined £291.
• Michael Muotto, 35, of HMP Isle Of Wight pleaded guilty to exposure. He was handed a 16-week prison sentence, concurrent to his existing sentence. He was ordered to pay £154 surcharge, due by 2030.
• Kelsea Broadfoot, 53, of School Street, Ryde pleaded guilty to possession of knife blade / sharp pointed article in a public place, namely a Samurai Sword. They were handed a 4-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months and made subject to a 9-month alcohol treatment order. They were ordered to pay £85 costs and a £154 surcharge.
• Matthew Lewendon, 53, of Barton Road, Newport pleaded guilty to assault by beating of an emergency worker. He was made subject to a 12-month community order with 30 rehabilitation days attached. He was ordered to pay £50 compensation.
• Finn Gustar, 20, of Berry Close, Newport was found guilty to driving a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road / in a public place without due care and attention. He was handed 9 penalty points, fined £180 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £72 surcharge.
• Christopher Hookins, 49, of Rectory Road, Shanklin pleaded guilty to drink driving. He was banned from driving for 14 months, fined £900 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £360 surcharge.
• Nicholas Sims, 55, of West Hill Road, Ryde pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the notification requirements of the Sex Offenders Register. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs.
• Ian Phillips, 47, of Trinity Road, Ventnor pleaded guilty to drug driving (cannabis). He was banned from driving for 40 months, fined £200 and ordered to pay £85 costs.
• Dean Brewer, 38, of Fort Street, Sandown pleaded guilty to 2x theft from a shop. He was handed a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £55.90 compensation and £85 costs.
• John Seath, 55, of Newport Road, Apse Heath pleaded guilty to drug driving (cocaine), drug driving (BZE), failing to stop after a road accident, using a motor vehicle without third party insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. He was banned from driving for 28 months and made subject to a 18-month community order with a 6-month drug rehabilitation order, 80 hours unpaid work and 10 rehabilitation days attached. He was ordered to pay £85 costs with a £114 surcharge.
• Andrew Collins, 59, of Embankment Road, Bembridge pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the notification requirements of the Sex Offenders Register and possession of a controlled drug of Class B – Cannabis. He was handed a 26-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, with a requirement of 10 days rehabilitation.
• Mark Fennell, 65, of The Strand, Ryde pleaded guilty to drink driving (99). He was banned from driving for 24 months and made subject to a 12-month community order with 80 hours unpaid work and 10 rehabilitation days attached. He was ordered to pay £85 costs with a £114 surcharge.
He was fined £50 for a further offence of failing to surrender to bail, which he pleaded guilty to.
• David Bithell, 36, of Preston Close, Ryde pleaded guilty to drug driving (cannabis). He was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £500. He was ordered to pay £85 costs with a £200 surcharge.
• Gary Dauncey, 54, of High Street, Ventnor pleaded guilty to theft from a shop. He was fined £40.
