Monday 8th August – Friday 12th August 2025

• Christopher Sheen, 57, of Adastral Close, Felixstowe – admitted driving without insurance and driving with excess alcohol on Lushington Hill, Newport. He was fined £120, ordered to pay £85 costs and a £48 surcharge, and disqualified from driving for 40 months. His record was endorsed with no separate penalty for the insurance offence.

• Stephen Durkin, 44, of Union Street, Ryde – admitted stealing alcohol worth £187 from Morrisons in Newport. He was ordered to pay £187 compensation.

• Cameron Russell, 19, of Culver Parade, Sandown – admitted stealing chilled food and snacks worth £25 from Tesco Express in Sandown. He was fined £40, ordered to pay £85 costs, a £16 surcharge, and £25 compensation, to be paid via benefit deductions. He also admitted stealing three sirloin steaks worth £21 from the same store and was ordered to pay £21 compensation.

• Lewis Dewick, 34, of No Fixed Abode, Newport – admitted assaulting a police constable in Carisbrooke. He was fined £120, ordered to pay £85 costs and a £48 surcharge, with payments deducted from benefits.

• Matthew Gerrard, 50, of Newport Road, Cowes – admitted driving under the influence of cannabis and cocaine in Newport. He received a community order with 150 hours of unpaid work, 15 rehabilitation days, and was disqualified from driving for 28 months. He was also ordered to pay £85 costs.

• Ian Willett, 27, of Pyle Street, Newport – admitted a series of thefts and an assault on an emergency worker, all sentenced under a suspended custodial sentence of 16 weeks for each offence, concurrent and suspended for 12 months. He must complete 25 rehabilitation activity days.

  Offences included:

-Theft of vapes worth £38.49 from Morrisons (compensation £38.49).
-Assaulting a police officer (compensation £100).
-Theft of items worth £109.50 from Sainsbury’s (compensation £109.50).
-Theft of clothing and goods worth £349.88, £404.82, £268, £179.94, and £289.99 from TK Maxx (respective compensations ordered).
-Failing to comply with sex offender notification requirements.

• Luke Burdett, 32, of Spanners Close, Chale Green – admitted being drunk and disorderly in Pyle Street, Newport. He was fined £40 and ordered to pay £40 costs.
