Monday 15th September – Friday 19th September 2025
• Alex Cooper, 27, of Oaklyn Gardens in Shanklin, admitted theft from a shop. He was ordered to pay compensation of £625.
• Christopher Tyler, 43, of no fixed abode, admitted drug driving. He was banned from the roads for 12-months and fined £120.
• Billy-Joe Malston, 25, of Lea Road in Lake, admitted make off without payment. She was ordered to pay compensation of £68.00 as well as £85 costs and a £14 surcharge fee.
• Emily Cook, 21, of East Mercea in Colchester, admitted drink driving. She was banned from the roads for 17-months and ordered to pay a £461 fine and £85 costs.
• Paul Smart, 39, of Fort Street in Sandown, admitted possession of a class-B drug and 2x theft from a shop. He was handed a 6-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay costs of £85 and £38.24 compensation.
• Simon Dalley, 36, of Stainers Close in Ryde, admitted drug driving. He was banned from driving for 12-months and fined £480. He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £192 surcharge fee.
• Matthew Payne, 55, of Albert Way in East Cowes, admitted drink driving. He was banned from driving for 14-months and fined £120. He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £48 surcharge fee.
•b 43, of Nodes Road in Cowes, admitted drink driving. He was handed a 20-month disqualification and fined £558. He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £223 surcharge fee.
• Glenn Maidment, 40, of Welch Way in Southampton, admitted possession of a class-B drug. He was handed a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £26 surcharge fee.
• Jason Blake, 38, of West Street in Newport, admitted 4x theft from a shop. He was ordered to pay compensation of £31.95 and £85 costs.
• Ewan Mattick, 20, of Albany View in Newport, admitted criminal damage, He was handed a 6-month conditional discharge.
Drink and drug driving seems to be a huge problem
on the island.
Let’s hope more money is spent on policing such issues.
It is….far more than violent and sexual assault which is ten times the problem of drink and drugs, and hurts significantly more people.

He was pulled up for hit and run a few years ago, punched an OAP to the ground after reversing into his car. OAP only got out to exchange details. Scumbag got no charge

Ashamed to say a family.member got convicted of drug driving recently & the sentence was embarrassingly ridiculous.
They are a problem because the penalties are too low. The primary penalty focusses on the disqualification which most will ignore. The fines are paltry because they all claim to be unemployed or have some other reason they cannot pay a fine. The reality is that they all manage to buy drink or drugs and most own the car they are stopped in. Start crushing the cars. You will very quickly see a turnaround.

basis.
There are NO excuses for drink or drug driving,
they need banging up or send them to the
French Foreign Legion.
They cannot be banged up, or, it seems, tagged, made to report every evening at 21.30 to a police station, whipped or put in the stocks because there are no places in our prison system for them. Obviously releasing criminals after 30% of their sentence is served has not made any room, and removing those in prison for nasty thoughts or writing hurty words would free up places but how can Herr Starmer keep his foot on the throat of working classes if he lets these awful people go free. The priorities have changed for the worst, words hurt more than assaults, drink driving, grooming gangs, and any other crime that has caused physical damage to innocent folk. Good here int it?
