The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has landed in the middle of Ryde in a late night mission to provide urgent pre-hospital treatment to a poorly individual.
It was just before 23:40 that the helicopter touched down at Simeon Street Recreation Ground, having circled the Appley area for a short time.
Flying medics are now on the ground providing medical treatment to an individual who is being cared for by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
An ambulance crew and operational commander responded to an incident on the Esplanade, near the junction with George Street, earlier on tonight, before transferring the patient to West Hill Road to meet the air ambulance crew.
UPDATE @ 00:10 – The air ambulance has lifted off from Ryde, without needing to airlift the patient to a mainland hospital.
Instead, they are being conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by land.
