UPDATED: Firefighters from Newport and Freshwater are tackling a grass fire in the West Wight this afternoon (Friday) covering an area approximately 40mx40m.
Crews were called to the incident behind the old coastguard cottages at Coastguard Lane at just before 12:45.
Two appliances are currently on the scene off Gate Lane with crews working to extinguish the fire, which is understood to be under control.
UPDATE @ 13:36 – The fire has now been extinguished.
Crews are damping down the area and making up ready to leave the incident.
