Lanesend Primary school was the welcome recipient of a brand-new football kit recently, courtesy of a partnership with IsleSocieti CIC and WightFibre.
The Cowes-based primary school is working together with IsleSocieti, a Cowes-based community interest company, in a project to provide specialist sports coaches for the school.
Presenting the kit to the school, John Irvine said;
“WightFibre is delighted to sponsor Lanesend Primary School’s sports kits. The young people seemed very excited by the arrival of the new kit and they certainly look good in it. A big thank you too to IsleSocieti for providing the coaching for the school teams.”
Caroline Sice, Headteacher at Lanesend said;
“We are over the moon with our new sports kit. Our thanks to Dean Batchelor at IsleSocieti for creating and designing our new kit but also for securing the funding and sponsorship from Wightfibre. We are so incredibly grateful for your kindness and as I say to the children kindness changes the world. Your kindness has changed our day and our presence on the sports field. The children will stand out in all their future events and competitions.”
As an added bonus, the school’s new kits are “eco-kits” using a fabric made from recycled plastic bottles that have been melted down in a special process – each shirt uses the equivalent of about 16 bottles! This feature has provided a fascinating talking point for the children at Lanesend, who are passionate about environmental matters, particularly the reduction of plastic waste.
The aim of the partnership is to enable more children to be exposed to team sports and professional coaching at a younger age, building their skills and confidence, and creating opportunities for players of all levels to join local teams should they so wish.
