Shanklin & Sandown hosted their annual Ladies’ Open on Friday 28th June – and the Mixed Open 2 days later on Sunday 30th June. In the Ladies’ Open, playing a Bowmaker competition, it was the team of Di Clark, Penny Diez and Sheila Richard from Freshwater Bay Golf Club who took 1st prize with 97 points ahead of Judy Gowing, Sue Lefroy and Shirley Keane from Roehampton with 86 points. In the Mixed Open, mainland and Island clubs, together with teams from Shanklin and Sandown, competed in a 4-Ball-Better-Ball Stableford Competition. The away winners were Mark Royl and Nikki Glasgow from Westridge with 47 points, with Robin and Celia Watkinson from Shirehampton Park taking 2nd place with 45 points. The home winners were Nigel and Brenda Keyte, winning with 45 points on countback from Simon Booth and Abi Humber.
