UPDATED: Firefighters are in attendance on Shide Road in Newport this afternoon (Wednesday), where a kitchen fire has broke out in a semi-detached house.
A pan on the stove has sparked 2 appliances from Newport to rush to the scene at Shide Courr. They were called at around 13:50.
The fire has been quickly extinguished, with Positive Pressure Ventilation now being used to rid smoke from the property.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are checking over the male occupant of the residential dwelling for the effects of smoke inhalation.
Smoke alarms fitted by the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are said to have alerted to the presence of fire, once again affirming the important of making sure smoke alarms are fitted and working to help save property and life.
Shide Road remains open.
UPDATE – Fire crews and officers have now left the scene and returned to station.
