Motorcycle riders using Freshwater Bay Golf Course as an off-road track are being asked to stay away due to the amount of damage being caused to the well-kept grass.
Tyre tracks have been left across the greens as a result of a number of motorcycles heading up onto Afton Downs and across the course – which they are not permitted to do.
Holes 6 through to 11, located at the top end of the scenic course, have all been damaged by the trespassers.
The damage has become quite extensive as the motorbikes have returned on numerous occasions, including last Thursday, Sunday night and again last night (Monday).
The National Trust has been made aware.

Keep a nine iron ready for them next time!
If they hadn’t closed the off road track this might not have happened.
Sorry to disappoint, but those are not motorcycle tyre tracks!
Yep, thats what I thought.
What are they then. Please enlighten us .
Not sure to be honest, but definitely not made by a motorcycle. Check the righthand picture at the top of the article, the tracks are parallel, how do you do that on a motorcycle?!
Also the imprints do not match those of any ‘normal’ tyre, motorcycle or otherwise. Look as though they were made by a tracked vehicle / ATV?
This is no different than Royal Mail and delivery drivers parking on the grass verges by the road ,messing up the appearance and lowering the tone of the area .
just because this is a golf course it gets published
More like a ATV tracks
Hardly important news,,, the grass will grow back
Maybe it’s Island Rogues plotting the ‘new road’ before the other falls into the sea. Thus shewing foresight in the taxpayer’s interest. Hang on… I’ve just wet m’self!
They look more like quad bike tyre tracks.
Get your fact right island echo .they are not motorcycle tracks .
