Whitecroft & Barton Sports produced a dazzling attacking display at Sandy Lane to maintain their unbeaten record, overwhelming Ventnor in the Harwoods Isle of Wight League Division 1 on Saturday (11th October).
Ventnor struck first in the 11th minute when captain Emerson Tattersall fired home a low shot from the edge of the area (0-1). It was his 27th goal of the season, following an impressive ten-goal haul the previous Saturday. Tattersall nearly doubled the lead in the 25th minute, but his shot sailed just over the crossbar. Ventnor’s Keelan Sainsbury was lucky not to have been red-carded for a reckless challenge on Jack Groundsell in the 29th minute, and the momentum gradually swung W&B’s way.

Whitecroft & Barton levelled in the 39th minute when Aidan Sainsbury drilled a low shot through a crowded penalty area (1-1). Sam Yelland then missed a golden opportunity in the 40th, but Fin Kalaker put W&B ahead in the 43rd minute, bundling the ball home past Payne (2-1).

Half-time: Whitecroft & Barton Sports 2-1 Ventnor
The second half saw W&B dominate. Cant scored in the 50th minute (3-1) before bagging his brace with a powerful header in the 60th (4-1). Harry Green, introduced as a second-half substitute, set the tone in the 69th minute by converting a Kyle Drew assist to make it (5-1), beginning his memorable hat-trick.

Green added 2 late goals to complete the treble. In the 88th minute he dribbled past two defenders before slotting the ball home (6-1), and he capped his memorable second half performance by scoring deep in stoppage time with a stunning long-range strike (7-1).
