The Isle of Wight’s perhaps most well-known magician, David Randini, says he is delighted to have received some fan mail this week.
Mr Randini, who has been entertaining young audiences across the Isle of Wight for several decades, received the kind note from a young fan following a performance at the Needles Landmark Attraction.
In a time where ‘notes in the news’ are often known to be of a volatile nature, the note – left in Marks and Spencer – was much more positive than expected.
Mr Randini tells the magical tale:
“M&S Newport contacted my wife to as me to come in as they have something for me. What could it be? I couldn’t remember ordering anything, had I left something behind or perhaps they were going to use me as the next model for their menswear collection?”
“On arrival at M&S I was given a sweet note, left for me by a young girl. She had seen me at the Needles Landmark attraction and apparently her parents said that I had made her holiday and she wanted to say thank you.
“I have managed to remember her name which was Tilly as she helped with a number of tricks at the Needles.
“These are the things that make you feel so humble and make you realise that what you do can mean so much”.
Mr Randini says that he is planning to send Tilly something as a thank you.

A wonderful story and I have to say that when, with our grandchildren, we saw David Randini at a Haven Street Railway event a few years ago, we were really impressed. This Max Bygraves look-a-like was a breath of fresh air and I think I must have been chief laugh leader that afternoon. His sense of humour was so just up my street. Thoroughly enjoyed his show and remember thinking how it knocked into a cocked-hat all the garbage so-called comedy that the television companies try to brainwash us into thinking is funny.
When I am next on Vectis I will make a point of checking out the menswear manikins in M&S!
I hired David some years ago for my sons party, he was so good and made us all laugh. Well done David.
NOT REALLY A FAN OF HIM
Don’t quite get the M&S connection? Doesn’t make sense. Always found him cringeworthy. Also think he couldn’t be humble if he tried.
