Ryde man Jordan Canning has been found guilty of penetrative sexual activity with a child following a 5-day trial at the Isle of Wight Crown Court.
Canning, 32, of Star Street, first appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court in March last year, accused of engaging in sexual activity with an underage girl, involving numerous acts of penetration, in May 2023.
The matter was deemed so serious that it was sent up to the Isle of Wight Crown Court, with a trial originally listed for October. However, the trial was pushed back and finally got underway last Monday (29th April).
On Friday, having heard all of the evidence, the jury returned a guilty verdict on 3 charges of an offender 18 or over engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl 13-15.
Mr Recorder Malcolm Gibney adjourned the case for sentencing, with Canning due to appear before the Isle of Wight Crown Court again on 10th June 2025.
He has been remanded in custody.
Gibney has the record for being the most lenient on perverts, hopefully after a 5 day hearing he will prove me wrong
