6 Isle of Wight youngsters – aged from 7 to 14 – aim to visit all 20 Premier League grounds in 24 hours to raise money for Mountbatten Hospice.
Sonny Foster (7), Reuben Flood (10), Jack Egerton-Reed (13), Oliver Flood (14), Ollie Linington (14) and Frankie Foster (14) will take on the charity challenge accompanied by their fathers, Arsenal fan Darren Flood, Liverpool supporter Alan Foster and Chelsea aficionado Craig Egerton-Reed.
The challenge is to visit and have a picture taken at all 20 Premier League stadiums in under 24 hours. The lads and their dads will travel over 1,000 miles in order to successfully complete the trip.
The 9 young and not-so-young football fans are leaving the Island on Friday 24th March and heading directly to Newcastle, where they will start the challenge the following day. They aim to leave St James’ Park in Newcastle at 10:00 on Saturday 25th March and then complete the challenge at the Vitality Stadium in Bournemouth on Sunday 26th March by no later than 10:00.
Their planned route is as follows:
Newcastle Utd > Leeds Utd > Manchester City > Manchester Utd > Liverpool > Everton > Wolves > Aston Villa > Nottingham Forest > Leicester City > Spurs > West Ham > Arsenal > Brentford > Fulham > Chelsea > Crystal Palace > Brighton > Southampton > Bournemouth.
Craig Egerton-Read says:
“We have calculated that this should be possible, with hopefully an hour or two to spare! Visiting the London clubs overnight should give us a better chance of avoiding traffic in the more congested areas.
“As you can imagine, the boys are all really excited to get going and have been involved in planning the best route. Now that all of the logistics are in place, we have been in contact with clubs, in the hope that some of the stadiums will grant us access pitch-side, which would make the trip that extra bit special.
“The challenge is being undertaken in aid of Mountbatten, who do such a brilliant job on the Island in providing quality of life to those with limited time. All money raised will go directly to the charity.”
