The 2021 Isle of Wight Sports Achievement Awards gala showcased the very best of Island sport last Thursday (31st March).
The special guest at the awards ceremony was gold medal-winning Olympic sailor, Shirley Robertson.
Isle of Wight Beach Soccer received several awards. The Senior Team were awarded the title Team of the Year 2021 and coach Luke Kerr was given the ‘making a difference’ title for his work with beach sports, boxing, football, and futsal over the past 20 years. Beach Soccer player Caymen Collins was the Senior Men’s Award Winner for outstanding achievements in sport.

Wight Crystals Synchronised Ice-Skating Team, who won a gold medal in the national Lee Valley Skate London competition, were awarded the Intermediate Team medal. Their achievement was even more impressive as they have had to train off-Island ever since the ice rink in Ryde shut in 2016.

Newport CE Primary was recognised for the steps they have taken to develop sporting choice and inspire greater inclusion over the past two years.

Ann Selby was given a lifetime achievement award for the hard work she has put into coaching and promoting the sport of netball on the Isle of Wight.
