Isle of Wight rower Bass Andre came agonisingly close to securing Bronze in Barbados, finishing less than a second behind Scotland’s Heather Gordon in the B final.
Representing Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club, Bass advanced to the B final – effectively the race for Bronze – after beating Canada by three seconds in a strong quarter-final showing.
The final brought a familiar challenge, with Gordon having edged Bass several times this season. Undeterred, Bass delivered a determined performance and pushed the Scot throughout, with the race decided by the narrowest of margins.
Club Captain Garry Walters said:
“Bass has made huge improvements this season and what an honour to represent their country in Barbados – a great centre stage to finish a phenomenal whirlwind of success this year!”
