Brandon Robinson-ThompsonPro golfer Brandon Robinson-Thompson – who was brought up in Totland and learnt to play at Freshwater Bay Golf Club – has qualified for the US Open. 3 golfers – Grant Forrest, Richard Mansell and Brandon – shared medallist honours at the Final Qualifying at Walton Heath. The trio shared top spot on 10-under-par after 36 holes at the Surrey course, with each competitor playing 1 round on each of the Old and New Courses. 9 places were available for the 3rd men’s major of the year. Robinson-Thompson was the 1st of those to reach 10-under and will make his US Open debut at Pinehurst in North Carolina on 13th June, less than a year after playing in his first major at The 151st Open at Hoylake. Brandon – who is now based in the United States – followed up his 1st round 68 with a 6-under 66.
