Tory leader Kemi Badenoch has questioned Keir Starmer’s approach to foreign policy, joking during a debate that he might “give away the Isle of Wight” whilst on a political visit in China.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is in China this week on a 3-day visit aimed at strengthening trade and cultural relations between the UK and the world’s second-largest economy.
It marks the first official visit to China by a British prime minister in 8 years.
The Labour leader, accompanied by 60 British business representatives, has said the trip will bring long-term benefits to the UK and allow for open dialogue on both shared interests and serious disagreements.
Sir Keir is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday (29th January).
The PM’s visit has attracted fierce criticism from his political opponents in the UK, with Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch saying she would not visit China “at this time” if she was prime minister:
“We should be talking more to those countries who are aligned with our interests, not the country that is doing everything it can to undermine our economy.
“I think that that is what the prime minister should be talking about and he needs to show strength, not approving a super-embassy which many people think is going to become a spy hub.”
“He’s probably going to give away the Isle of Wight before he comes back. Let’s have an actual foreign policy, one that is rooted in realism and focusing on Britain’s national interest.”

The only reason that we are suffering under this two-tier Keir led bunch of idiots is because the Tory Government, run by the fat controller Bozo in which she served, failed on all counts and was thrown out for their lies and deception, just as Starmer will be very, very soon.
In June 2023, Badenoch then Sec of State for Trade, was in a heated public row with Tory Eurosceptics over the U.K.’s efforts to scrap EU laws carried over post-Brexit.
She was accused of being”disrespectful” toward the House of Commons by slowing Government efforts to scrap EU laws after MPs had already passed a key bill.
The Retained EU Law Bill had a strict sunset clause automatically deleting every EU law carried over after Brexit, around 4,000 pieces of legislation, by the 31st December 2023.
Badenoch decided to alter the bill to just 600 pieces of EU law, which were then “to be reviewed” by the U.K. government.
Now, less than 3 years later, she has “promised” (for whatever a Tory promise is worth) to “take the UK out of the ECHR” if she wins the next General Election.
There is no chance of that as they will be lucky to return 50 MPs.
The “Broad Church” Conservatives will soon be the Chapel in The Phone Box because they will never be trusted again.
Two Tier and his circus of U Turns will be removed probably before 2029 with a cataclysmic financial collapse of the UK, thanks to Rachel from Accounts.
Squiggley will back at the fish bar and Robertson will be out of work. Happy Days!

very true,..
but unfortunately, anyone who thinks that Reform will be any better, is sadly deluded, and obviously under the spell of the constant verbal diarrhea of lies and fiction from farage and his business partners…
They couldn’t afford the ferry fares so I doubt
it very much.
He might offer it but would the Chinese take it in its present state that it is debatable
Could be the best thing to happen for the island since Queen Victoria
