An East Cowes man has appeared in court accused of the importation of cannabis through Manchester Airport at the weekend.
Adam Sawyer, 25, of Marina View in East Cowes, appeared before Stockport Magistrates’ Court on Monday (18th August) charged with being concerned in the fraudulent evasion of a prohibition on the importation of a Class B drug.
The offence is alleged to have taken place on Saturday at Manchester Airport, where Sawyer is said to have knowingly played a role in the importation of cannabis.
Due to the seriousness of the charge, the case has been sent to the Crown Court.
Sawyer did not enter a plea at this stage and has been remanded in custody.
He is next due to appear at Manchester Crown Court on Monday 22nd September for a Plea and Trial Preparation Hearing.
