This is your round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.
Monday 21st December – Thursday 24th December 2020
• Shaun David Rowlands, 31, of Osborne Heights in East Cowes admitted 2 charges of assaulting an emergency worker, namely 2 Police officers, assault by beating and criminal damage. He was fined £292 and ordered to complete 25 rehabilitation days as well as paying £100 compensation, £85 costs and a £95 surcharge.
• Guy Christopher Taylor, 30, of Lowtherville Road in Ventnor, pleaded guilty to causing harassment, alarm or distress by using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour. He was fined £180 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge. The offence was aggravated due to hostility based on a disability of the victim. – a hate crime.
• Georgia Minette Cooper, 18, of Salisbury Road in Ryde, was fined £80 for possession of 117.64g of cannabis, a Class B drug. She was ordered to pay £85 costs and the drugs were forfeited.
