Ventnor have dropped to 7th place in Southern Premier Division 1 after a 7-wicket defeat to Hook & Newnham at Steephill.
Ventnor 1sts were skittled out for 189 in the 42nd over. Opener Henry Bartlett top scored for the South Wight side with a knock of 70 before being run out. Wicket keeper Hugh Calloway made 34 before being caught lbw by Aniket Divecha.
Hook & Newnham surpassed the Ventnor total with 18 overs to spare for the loss of just 3 wickets, largely thanks to an opening partnership of 135 between Harry Warner (89 not out) and captain Samuel Lockwood (53).

In Hampshire Division 4 South, top-of-the-table Ventnor 2nds won their 8th game in succession with an emphatic 9-wicket victory against Portsmouth & Southsea 3rds.
Ventnor succeeded to skittle out the Pompey side for just 106 runs in the 35th over. Sam Read (4-14) and Jack Powell (4-21) were the pick of the Ventnor bowlers. Toby Noyes (2-34) also bagged a brace of wickets for the South Wight side.
Ventnor took just 22 overs to surpass Portsmouth & Southsea’s modest total. Gary Legg top-scored for the Island team with 70 before being caught off the bowling of Roy.

In Hampshire Division 1, Ryde comfortably beat East Woodhay by 7 wickets.
After winning the toss and electing to field, Ryde nabbed 10 East Woodhay wickets for 121 runs with 3 overs to spare. Ash Goldsmith took 4 wickets for just 19 runs with Will Mew taking 3 wickets for 26 runs.
Ryde overcame the East Woodhay total in the 30th over for the loss of just 3 wickets. Tom Durnam top-scored for the Island side with 56 not out.

After losing the toss and being put into bat by Ryde, Burridge reached a respectable total of 230/6 in their 45 overs.
Ryde could only manage a total of 119 all out in reply, with Andy Day top-scoring with just 26 runs.

In Hampshire Division 3 (South), Shanklin & Godshill went down to an 8-wicket defeat at the hands of Sway 2nds.
Shanklin won the toss and elected to bat, putting on 231 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Captain Ben White hit an unbeaten 108, including 3 6s and 11 4s.
The Island side’s bowlers toiled in vain, with Sway surpassing the Shanklin total in the 40th over for the loss of just 2 wickets.
