Isle of Wight-born broadcaster Rick Jackson is set to wake up listeners across the region as the new host of BBC Radio Solent’s Breakfast programme from March.
Rick, who joined BBC Radio Solent in 2025 to present the Afternoon Show, will take over the station’s early morning output from the 9th March this year.
Originally from the Isle of Wight and now living in Gosport, Rick began his broadcasting career on the Island at 17 years old.
The Breakfast programme will focus on what is happening across Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight, featuring interviews with people making a difference along the South Coast.
Known for his upbeat on-air energy, which to he will now bring early morning commuters and families on the school run with his popular music quiz, ‘The Naked Hit’.
Rick Jackson has said:
“This is really exciting – I’m so happy that I will be back on a breakfast show again, championing the area that I love.
“I can’t wait to entertain our listeners and connect them with the stories, the people and the places of the South.”
Alongside the changes, current Breakfast presenter Alun Newman will launch a new Afternoon Show across the region from 23rd March, airing between 14:00-18:00. Katie Martin will continue to present the Daytime Show from 10:00-14:00, including ‘The Rewind’ from 13:00.
