The Isle of Wight 1st XI beat the MCC at Westhill with 4 wickets and 14 overs to spare on Monday (3rd July).
MCC won the toss and elected to bat. The touring side reached a respectable total of 236 before being skittled out in the penultimate over. Edwards top scored for the visitors with an unbeaten 67 not out, including 3 6s and 5 4s.
4 Isle of Wight bowlers picked up braces of wickets: Tom Turney (2-22), Daniel Cox (2-37), T. Durman (2-42) and Will Mew (2-42). Ross Boart (1-29) and Henry Bartlett (1-46) took a wicket apiece.
The Isle of Wight XI surpassed the MCC total in the 36th over thanks to a match-winning performance by Ivan Lockem, who put on 105 runs in just 59 balls, including 3 6s and 16 4s. Lockem was supported by Martin Blackman, who scored an unbeaten 44. McDonnell was the pick of the MCC bowlers with figures of 4-48.
