Breaking News

militarymuseumThe Isle Of Wight Military History Museum in Northwood has closed its doors for good this week marking another blow for the Island’s tourism industry.

As Island Echo reported earlier today (Wednesday), news has spread of vehicles being removed from the museum at Newport Road on the outskirts of Cowes – some appear to have moved to a yard in Merstone, while others have returned to individual owners.

It has this afternoon been confirmed that the charitable trust behind the attraction, which brought in around £65,000 during 2012, has closed due to unforeseen circumstances. The trust is described as “continuing the support of restoring and displaying low II military equipment and the preservation and education for the general public”.

Island Echo understand the closure has come about due to a dispute with land owners.
