Platform One’s BA (Hons) Sustainable Fashion students were given an invaluable glimpse into their future careers recently, as the organisation hosted a powerful afternoon of industry insight, panel discussion, and hands-on networking with leading figures from across the fashion landscape.
Curated by third-year students as part of their degree programme, the event welcomed Jules Lennon from the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and Rosie Drake-Amery, founder of Roake Studio, for a dynamic panel exploring the realities of building a responsible fashion career in 2025 and beyond.
Students gained first-hand knowledge on topics ranging from circularity and sustainable design to brand building, entrepreneurship, and how to connect with the wider fashion ecosystem. For many, it was a chance to understand how the skills developed throughout their degree can translate into genuine, future-facing opportunities.
Hannah Woodford, Head of Sustainable Fashion at Platform One, has said:
“We were pleased to welcome so many industry specialists who contributed their time to this event. The fashion industry is evolving, and our students are well-positioned to take advantage of the opportunities this change brings.”
Following the panel, students joined a buzzing networking event at Wadhams, attended by respected innovators, designers and sustainability professionals from organisations including FatFace, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, Mountbatten Hospice, and a range of freelancers with experience at major fashion houses such as Marks & Spencer, Burberry and Jaeger.
The event forms part of Platform One’s growing commitment to providing real-world, industry-connected learning experiences that help students build confidence, community and professional networks before graduating.
Final-year student Charlotte Sterne said:
“Our industry event was a fantastic opportunity to learn from professionals who are working in the field of fashion. It was interesting to hear everybody’s experiences and journeys and informative for our future careers. There was a vast mix of creatives who it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to connect with.”
